Bordalás: “We were better enough to have won the game, but lacked accuracy in front of goal”
José Bordalás spoke in a post-match press conference following the 1-1 draw between Valencia CF and RCD Espanyol, held at the RCDE Stadium.
How did you see today's match?
It's difficult because we were two teams that had very little at stake; just finishing the season as well as possible in these last few games. RCD Espanyol wanted a victory in front of their home fans and we wanted to end our bad run of results. Today we lacked accuracy in front of goal. We had more chances and better chances than them. It's difficult right now because the mood is not the same. We were superior enough to have won the game. It’s a pity that, with the game under control, we conceded the equaliser. In the end, a point that is of little use to either of us.

Alderete will not play in the last game in Mestalla. It remains to be decided whether the option to buy him will be taken up. What is your opinion about it? Would you exercise the option?
I'm not going to comment on it because the season is not over yet. It is a decision that the club will make, based on the demands of his parent club and his performance. Until the season is over I prefer not to make any firm statement.

How do you expect the atmosphere at Mestalla to be for the last game of the season?
We are confident that we will have a good game and get a victory, because our fans deserve it. They have been supporting the team throughout the year, they have shown that they are a remarkable set of supporters and that they have an incredible feeling. We are indebted to them and we shall see if we are capable of achieving a victory against Celta. I think the reception from them has been incredible throughout the year.
